Day 2 - A Researching Extravaganza
I had then started off the second day of my J-Term by making my way into Memorial Hermann, and up to the lab where I would be spending these next two weeks once again.
Today, I had continued reading some grants, as well as some more digestible background information that will help me understand the lab work that I will start contributing to tomorrow. For the majority of my morning, I had spent my time reading about cancer as a whole, as well as the large role that immunotherapy plays in cancer treatment too. In contrast to the grant that I had read yesterday, this one seemed to lay out most of the major topics of cancer research in a way that was more familiar with me, as I was able to understand most of the information talked about in this paper.
With some more further explanation of this paper, I finally was able to process the information I learnt about in a way that will now help understand the experiments and lab work that I am going to be participating in tomorrow.
Later that afternoon, I had continued to read the same paper well into the topic of the different types of treatments used against cancer, such as: chemotherapy, targeted therapies, personalized, and combination methods used with surgery and radiation together. I had also read into the similar topic of immunotherapy, with similar information to what was in the grant I had read yesterday. This part of the paper mentioned many different aspects of immunotherapy, including: CTLA4, antigens, and many more things already mentioned prior.
The papers that I have read today will certainly help me further understand what exactly I will be doing in the for the rest of this week, as well as next week.
Afterwards I headed home once again, and I can firmly say that my J-Term has been going well so far.
